For more than 25 years, Community Futures offices have been helping rural Albertans build successful businesses. One of the main ways we help is by providing opportunities for skills development and continuous learning. Our team of rural small business specialists have developed a broad range of business training options that enable small business owners to learn exactly what they need to know, when they need to know it. Whether you are looking for one-on-one coaching, business mentoring, training seminars, online courses or specialized workshops, we’ve got you covered.

Business counseling and advice – We provide assistance with topics such as writing a business plan, developing a business expansion strategy, securing financing and much more. We offer these services free of charge for the first four hours.

Business consulting services – We help with business projects like marketing plans, feasibility studies or investment attraction strategies for an hourly fee.

Community Futures in partnership with the tecconnect+ED Program of the Regional Innovation Network of Southern Alberta (RINSA) presents lunch and learn training workshops for startup entrepreneurs.  Topics include market analysis, business regulations, financing and much more.  Take full advantage of these learning opportunities with experts that can help you grow your business idea. Participants with an idea or prototype who have not reached the point of sales or revenue will experience the greatest benefit from this program.

Bruce Thurston: Bruce has experience as a CEO President with a strong proven leadership track record. Bruce is a go-to-advisor for many organization in southern Alberta. Among his many accomplishments include his induction into the U of L Honor Society as a result of the wealth of knowledge and skill he has brought to his teaching role in the Faculty of Management as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.

Darren Neuberger: Darren has always had a passion for helping others success in all aspects of their life. From a lifetime involvement in sports, especially baseball, he has lived through highs and the lows on the playing field as both a player and a coach. Chinook Entrepreneur Challenge

 

The Chinook Entrepreneur Challenge is an annual business plan writing competition designed and targeted toward new or existing business (individuals or teams) who have a sustainable and high-growth business idea.  Through the program you will gain business skills, write your business plan, get feedback on your ideas from regional professionals, network with key people including other entrepreneurs like yourself and have a chance at winning cash and prizes!
